Konpira Maru returns to Whitlands Chardonnay for the first time since 2021, and it was worth the wait. Sourced from the high-altitude Celeste vineyard in the King Valley, this is cool-climate Chardy at its most expressive. Whole bunch pressed and aged in old French and Hungarian oak, it’s unfined, unfiltered, and full of energy. Expect lifted aromatics of bircher muesli and candied paw paw, with a zippy palate of lime zest, lemon myrtle, and yellow box honey. Bright acidity, serious length, and a wild edge that makes it distinctly Konpira. Serve it chilled and pair with smug fish tales.
